    I have an .avi file whose sound track I want to edit by reducing the bass and increasing the volume. Can anyone recommend an easy-to-use programme that will do this for me, please?

    Goldwave or Audacity(latest beta) can open the audio directly from avi files. Play around with the built in filters. Then save as mp3 and multiplex the new audio back to the avi using for example avimuxgui.
