When DVD Fab Platinum 6 wasn't loading beyind the first 70 MBs of the movie (two different computers), I opened it in SHRINK . . . and the whole movie came through like a champ!? What the . . . The problem is, I need to get it into Fab so I can customize it. So I did a backup in SHRINK, and — again, DVD Fab can't see more than 70 MBs of this movie!

I read somewhere here to try Any DVD if other programs wouldn't work; downloaded a trial; and observed the following report on this movie:

Is the reason FAB can't see more than 70 MBs of this movie because it's dual layer? Can someone help me understand what's happening? I kinda need to do this quickly. :P HELLLLLP!!

Update DVD Fab to the latest version (6.0.6.9) and try again

  3. Note that the studios work very hard to come out with new ways of fooling programs like DVD Fab. That is why DVD Fab has to be updated frequently.

No joy with ~.9 so I'll apparently have to store the full contents on hard drive until Fab catches up. Meanwhile, a (usable) version rips from SHRINK containing the meat of the movie.

What do you suggest I use to pull the entire DVD down? because my SHRINK settings, er, do eliminate some bonus stuff. MrBass's DVD Decrypter? Oh wait, he wrote SHRINK lol. er . . . I'd prefer to use a different program because then I won't have to be constantly changing my SHRINK settings. Advice?

Shrink settings? I don't follow. You don't have to shrink anything with DVDShrink....you can rip the entire disc without changing anything, shrinking anything or removing anything. If that is the program that works....use it.

I suggest you wait until DVDFab catches up with this new protection and then use it. Seriously, are you REALLY unable to wait for this?

DVD Shrink hasn't been updated in years and knows nothing about the latest and greatest copy protection methods on DVD, most of which involve using bad sectors. You probably found the only movie that works on DVD Shrink (well, mostly) and not on DVDFab, but DVDFab will catch up to it. And by the way, exactly why did you not identify the movie in question? Did you not think that maybe if someone else was familiar with it, they might have some tips? All we know is that you have some mystery movie that only DVD Shrink can handle, but it can't handle the extras.

Your responding to an issue I didn't raise, but I should probably clarify something here: I'm dealing with multiple sources, and they must of necessity each be processed differently as a result. Preferences for MrBass are preserved for one; preferences for SHRINK are preserved for the other; thus I don't have to go in and manually change them each time. I'm doing two different things with each program, the one collecting everything off of the DVD (because FAB can't see it and I don't know what's being thrown out); the other for processing a post-FAB DVD that I was able to see in FAB and did customize.

Yes. It's no problem; I've got plenty of drive space and I'll be monitoring FAB's betas (and others), count on it.

And again, your silence and refusal to name the DVD in question simply insures that anyone who might have experience with this particular title cannot help you.

Do you really think there are settings to save in either DVDFabDecrypter, DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter that will
allow you to "set it and forget it" and output every DVD you throw in there exactly like you want it...exactly like the previous?

In your brief history here you have been proven wrong AND proven to have a problem with flying off the handle before you fully understand the software.
    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic372868.html#2004351

So now you are going to sit here and tell us that YOU have found a way to place two completely different DVDs into DVDFabDecrypter and end up with....for example...Movie Only with the end credits removed from both of them. YOU can save those type of settings in YOUR version of DVDFabDecrypter?...or any of them for that matter?

  12. try this, sometimes the path player option in dvd fab wrongly sees protection on a dvd that is not there. In a few cases this then actually has the ripper removing otherwise normal content from a dvd (and a constant bug they always seem to update). Open dvd fab and on the top right click on the green check mark. Now in this new window click on the pathplayer tab and then set it to disable. Put in your disc and see if it can now see beyond 70 megs

Because if dvdshrink can rip you the main film then this points to possibly dvd fab's path player screwing up
