  1. I want to cature from an analog Camcorder and add titles and effects then burn to VCD or SVCD.

Here's what I've tried so far.

    Dazzle DVC (MPEG-1)
Bought an old Dazzle DVC and captured some clips. Downloaded Ulead Video Studio 6 trial and added the titles. When I tried to render the file to VCD standard the Ulead software crashed. The original captured file was almost an acceptable standard except when looking at sky, water or other area of similar color.

    ATI TV WONDER VE
Used this to capture using the built in MPEG-2 decoder. Playing the original captured file back using windows media player looked great, no blocks of color anywhere.

Used TMPGenc to change to VCD, burnt using CDRWIN and all the blocks of color were back.

Used TMPGenc to render to SVCD, burnt using CDRWIN and it looks great on the TV. Thought I'd got it solved, ran the TMPGenc generated MPEG-2 file through Ulead VS6 to add titles and effects. Thought it would only re-render the effects but it re-rendered everything and it looked horrible after the VS6 render.

Tried to use ATI card with VirtualDub to capture AVI but my PC drops as many frames as it captures so the AVI file is useless.

My PC is a celeron 1.2GHz (Compaq) running XP.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Andy

u shouldn't apply titles while capturing, that's what editing is for

  3. For the 55 people who read my original post here is the answer to the problem.........

The SVCD template in TMPGenc is different to the Ulead SVCD template and that's why the Ulead software insisted on corrupting (I mean rendering) my files. Changed the TMPGenc template to match the Ulead one (ie both VBR) and now it works... So the final solution

Use ATI TV wonder card with MMC 7.1 to capture in 'good quality' MPEG-2

Use TMPGenc to convert to SVCD

Use Ulead Video Studio 6 to add titles and transitions.

Use Ulead to render to final mpeg file (it only renders the edited parts leaving the higher quality TMPGenc bits alone)

Use Ulead to burn to SVCD

Results are great; at least for the video got to sort the audio now but that's a whole new posting....
