I am new to this forum. Please forgive if this is a question previously covered, but I can't seem to find any information that directly relates to it.

I would like to capture some of the music from dvds (I suppose in AC3 format) and play it back on my stereo system, but keeping the 5.1 channels. I have been able to use dvddecrypter to demux the sound channel, but what do I do to put that onto a CD or DVD? It seems to come out of dvddecrypter as a VOB file, but I just want an audio file that can be played by itself. I have an OPPO DV-970HD player. I would like to put together some of the endtitle music for my own enjoyment, so any tool that allows editing of AC3 would also be helpful. If this is impossible, thanks anyway for any comments/advice you may have. Also, thanks to all on this forum. I have been a "lurker" for several years, and am constantly amazed at the high level of intelligence shown by most of the participants, as well as the wealth of information you make available.

In DVDD you need to make sure you highlight the audio stream and demux..
latest Audacity will import/export AC3 even VOBs via ffmpeg...

You might try Rejig. Open the files in IFO or file mode, deselect video, select the audio streams you want, click "fix delay", set the output directory and hit "demux". If the DVD is copyprotected you might wanna try AnyDVD for background decryption.

You can do this losslessly with these tools:

    1) Extract AC3 by demuxing the DVD with PGCedit (several other tools can do this too).
(If the DVD is protected, you need to use a decrypter.)

    2) Cut and edit the AC3 (though not join) with Delaycut.

    3) Author using GfD's Audio titleset option.
That creates a standard DVD using the AC3 and a still image (which it can generate from the titlename) to make a minimal MPEG.
