  1. I tried searching but did not find any answer. I have an avi which has perfect picture but no sound when played on my PS3 (via usb stick).

Using Gspot the audio is as follows:

    codec: 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 VBR
    info: 48000Hz 161 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo

Any ideas why this will not play the sound and how it can be fixed?

    Many Thanks

Virtualdub won't like it much because it is VBR MP3. Try AVI Demux. When you load it and it asks to build a timemap, say yes. Then re-save it with the video set to Copy, and the audio set to CBR MP3.

That said, VBR MP3 should not worry the PS3. Is your PS3 firmware up to date ?

  4. Yeah my PS3 firmware is up to date - I have the latest one which has the link to BBC iPlayer so I dont know why tis isnt working.

It just doesnt recognise the audio and displays it as "-". Will try avi demux so thanks for that...
