    Hey guys
I'm new here. My PC is running Windows Vista 64-bits. I have installed Vegas 8, 8.1-64-bits and 9 on my PC.
Things happend yesterday, when I upgrade my iTunes from 8-64-bits to 9-64-bits. and it also automatically install Windows Update(09/10). The Vegas stop recognising .m4a audio file. discarding which version of Vegas you use.
I uninstall iTunes 9 and Windows Update and reinstall Vegas 9. But the problem is still there.

Does anyone encounter the same problem like this? I think one of these updateing must cause that problem. I can still play .m4a using iTunes 8,9 or QT, and AE CS4 can also play .m4a as well. only not for Vegas. I'm really in the deep shit. any help?

We have exactly the same problem. Vista 64 bit, Vegas 8.0d, and iTunes 9. All was good until we updated iTunes. Now Vegas doesn't recognize mp4 and m4a audio (error is "audio stream properties not recognized"). We backed out the Windows updates, and updated Vegas (from 8.0a to 8.0d). Still no luck. At least now I know I don't need to uninstall iTunes!

Help! I am going to miss a deadline if I can't get this working.

I had the same problem. It is the new quicktime that is messing everything up. I had to uninstall both itunes and quicktime and reinstall the previous version. Once I did this everything was as it was before.
