Problem playing ripped files in PowerDVD

Have followed instructions on how to rip DVD to hdd using Smartripper.
Can play fine if it is Region 4 - yes I'm in Australia.
Can rip Region 1 after changing drive region but cannot play - get error "This player is incompatible with the region marking of this disc"
Any have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Had the same problem as you have now.

Download DVDGenie from the tools section and install it in your computer. Before playing the disk set the region manually in DVDGenie. Clicking the option to automatically reset region code in DVDGenie does not work with powerdvd.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Had already tried DVDGenie though and still having problems.
Have now tried a rip without Region patch but PowerDVD giving errors that display mode not supported and to use DDraw overlay mode. Not able to find any info on how to enable overlay mode??

Any ideas?

What DirectX software do you have. It may help if you get the latest DirectX8.1. You can download it from Microsoft's site.

Already had Directx 8.1 (Had to restart system....)
Have now ripped Region 1 DVD using DVDDecrypter and can watch via PowerDVD.
