Are you talking about Blu-ray playback? If you buy a BDROM drive, you're going to be getting Blu-ray playback software with it anyway.Originally Posted by ocgw
If you're talking about general H.264 playback, Win 7 already has a decoder built in which MC7 uses. You can also make it use other codecs, free or paid, but what would the point be?
"Media center software" is a class of software, of which Windows Media Center is only one example. So are the others I named.Sorry bro', but if it doesn't intergrate into Media Center, it is not "Media Center" software. merely catalog software
So is it a bad sign that you didn't know why exactly OP had the video playback problem in the first place? If you knew your stuff, you wouldn't be ragging on a whole class of software because you had bad experiences with one particular program. You don't think I know what I am talking about, lol, I was into Home Theater when most of you were still in diapers, no offense
No, not really. You can't do better than free software for highly-configurable playback and encoding in general.Anyway the old saying, "You get what you pay" for is more true now than ever before -

It's ironic to hear that from someone as clueless about video playback as you. Let me guess, you buy expensive power cables for your speaker systems too.Originally Posted by ocgw

lol , broke azz college kids, spends hours figuring out how to to "split the atom" on chit you can buy for pennies, my time is for valueable than that, I am so far beyond sweating my video quality, I have a HTPC/Media Server Home Network w/ CD's, DVD's, and blu ray's streamed all over the house to 3 theaters and a 4th media center
You are a young bull, I am a old bull
Once upon a time two bulls, a young one and a old one walked up to the top of a grassy knowl over looking a herd of cows, the young bull said, "Hey pops, let's run down and fvck one of those cows", the old bull said, "No son, Let's walk down and fvck them all"
It's all good tho', I used to be just like you, a long ass time ago early in the learning curve

No, you are clueless because you can't answer technical points with anything but weakass "I was into HT before you were born" comments. It's pointless pointing out anything to you because you simply ignore it completely.

All i have to say is if you are into avchd authoring and burning windvd and pdvd are not what you want in testing and watching any burned projects,TotalMedia Theatre 3 is much better for that.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Quite often ppl will post here asking how to do something, and we will give them the best answer we can, but sometimes the best answer is, "Why are you doing "such and such"?" in the first placeOriginally Posted by creamyhorror
You can "spin your wheels" making 'grand solutions to non-existant problems', been there, done that, it's what we do when we are young with more time on our hands than money, but not something I choose to do now, I am too busy doing other things
You may be smart, but not wise
Unless of course you have more time on your hands than money, then by all means, do what you have to do son, but don't knock other ppl for buying a simple piece of software designed to do exactly what they want by comparing it to buying "expensive power cables", that is simply foolish
You may be good with computers, but you have much to learn about life
You don't understand this now, but you may when you get older

I can assure you I have no interest in trying to convince you to switch to free software. No one cares what you use.
The OP's problem was easily fixed, so we're done here. -
