  1. IBC 2009 is quickly - too quickly, actually - approaching.
10-14 september for the conference, 11-15 for the expo.
Anyone from this forum going? What are your expectations?
Do you think the economic trends of 2009 will affect public interest, and a have a noticeable impact on business at the expo?
Numbers of 40.000 visitors have been mentioned in the past.

  2. Well, the interest in this thread isn't overwhelming, hope it isn't misplaced.

One rather big discussion topic about this years expo is that Sony pulled out, their showcase area at IBC normally being huge.
Apparently they are concentrating on other types of marketing campaigns, with a more direct approach to customers. Whatever that means.

Well, most users around here are located in the North America, and this expo it is located in Europe, so it is natural that the interest is not so big.

AFAIK, IFA2009 just finished and all the big ones had smaller showcase areas this year and presented far less products. So, I bet IBC gonna follow the same way.

And yes, presenting your products and let buying them direct through the internet, if a worldwide delivary is available, most of the times cost you half than buying the same product on your local shop.

Things are a bit slow at the expo, for sure. And my feet hurt already.
