  1. Hi,
looking for suggestions on what player to use for an expo - i need to show a list of around 10-20 demo clips off a TV. The list needs to restart so the clips go on and on forever.

The clips are computer rendered/animated. They are from 10 seconds to a few minutes, and between every clip there's a short "filler" with a black text on white background, also a video clip, but just a few seconds long.

I could just go with VLC, the only problem is that it gets minimized between every clip, so the impression is a bit "jerky". I would prefer something that does relatively smooth transitions from file A to file B.

Will be playing from Windows XP.

I think i would prefer some kind of mplayer solution - which of the GUIs would you reccommend?

I dont mind "scripting" this from some text file, if necessary. Especially since some of these clips are "fake anamorph". They are produced as 4:3 but basicly needs to be played with an explicit 16:9 force. Then again some of the clips are 4:3. And some are "real" 16:9.

A bunch of codecs as it seems, everything seems to be manageable by VLC though.

  2. MPCHC and KMPlayer both have play lists and auto repeat.

  3. Thanks for the advice.
Does anyone know a good way to script mplayer (or some other player) in a way that you can define how individual files will be played? Aspect ratio settings and such.

Also, regarding the transitions, what is the most "smooth" player in your opinion? I want the jump from one file to another to be as subtle as possible.
