  1. Does anyone know what the png files for TS1Act, TS1Backg, TS1BackgImg, TS1BackImgs, TS1BackImgs2, TS1BackStrs, TS1BackStrs2, and TS1High are?

I think I have figured out some of them.

TS1Act - How the activated buttons looks like
TS1Backg - How buttons normally looks like
    TS1BackgImg - Background image
    TS1BackImgs - ????
    TS1BackImgs2 - ????
TS1BackStrs - How buttons normally looks like (again?)
    TS1BackStrs2 - ????
TS1High - How the highlighted buttons looks like

  2. Hi mrcoolekin,

    1. Only TS1Act, TS1Backg and TS1High are png files, the rest is bmp.
    2. It depends, if it is an animated menu or a static menu. For a static menu the three png files are enough, for an animated menu only the TS1Act and TS1High png file are used, the bmp files are put together via an aviysnth script (TS1Script.avs).

TS1Act.png - How the activated buttons looks like - Yes, but only the 'dyeing'. As the buttons may have some transparency, the background may shine through.
TS1Backg.png - How buttons normally looks like - No, not just the buttons, but the complete background if the menu is static.
TS1Backg.bmp - The background without images, animations and texts if the menu is animated
TS1BackgImg.bmp - Only background image without anything (for an animated menu with static background)
TS1BackImgs.bmp - Images on an animated menu
TS1BackImgs2.bmp - Mask for the images on an animated menu (only the white parts of this image are visible on the final menu)
TS1BackStrs.bmp - Texts (and text from textbuttons inc. gifmasks) on an animated menu
TS1BackStrs2.bmp - Mask for the texts on an animated menu (only the white parts of this image are visible on the final menu)
TS1High.png - How the highlighted buttons looks like - Yes, but only the 'dyeing'.

What do you intend to do this this files? Or do you ask just out of curiosity?

  3. Thanks for answering my question borax.

I was gonna edit the files in photoshop to test a few things out, but got confused on some of the files. I was curious too. My confusion came when my MMBackg.png didn't match my TS1Backg.png. Now I know why cause my Title Menu is a still, but my TitleSet Menu was animated. Your explanation helped me out greatly. Thanks!!!

  4. This might be an idear for more advanced menu graphics...

It could be an interesting idear to code up some plugin for ex. Paint.Net or Gimp to open up each menu as a project with the various buttons as layers, which then could be edited and saved layer by layer replacing the original images. Of cource there should be some way to avoid those files to get overwritten when reauthoring a project in GFD.

Took a quick look on the latest Gimp scripts/plugins:

    A few Layer scripts Gimp:
    Export Layers as PNG
    Layer Informations
    LayerGroups subsystem for Gimp

Oh hey! The idear isn't new:
    DvdAuthor-Buttons

I wonder if this could "talk to GFD" in a more direct way? Maybe by an abillity to read gfd/dvdauthor/muxman files and import the button images as layers, which then could be editied and saved...?

  5. I don't think this is worth the effort...
It would be possible for dvdauthor, MuxMan uses a completely different structure (indexed 8Bit BMP files with a definition in the mxp file for which color corresponds to which button color and transparancy - same concept as Scenarist).
