Hi all. I wasn't sure where to put this post, but since it does have to do with "playing", maybe its not such a bad place after all.
Is anybody familiar with the ffmpeg -vcodec xvid or libxvid builds and playability in virtualdub ? All the ones I have seem broken and only play in KMplayer; VLC; or MPlayer, (they also play perfectly in both my WDTV and LG portable theater player devices) but i'm wondering if its a "header" thing, where I ight have to hack it to work inside virtualdub.
For the ffmpeg(s) I have, mediainfo says each are either of:
Lavf51.10.1
Lavf51.12.1
I'm looking for the correct or best (xvid encoder) version ffmpeg to download. I'm trying to build a gui around it (just for me personally) but just for xvid (batch) encoding purposes but am stumpped with the above limitation because I cannot analize the video encodings for quality purposes
Thank you,

Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

HORRAY!!
after a little more digging around through google, (was my friend this time around) I found the answer.
ffmpeg -vcodec xvid -vtag XVID
you have to use all caps. Now opens perfectly inside virtualdub vdub .
