I'm having a spirited debate with a guy at work. The issue is security. He thinks that all dvd recorders have internal memory and that, for security purposes, they have to be treated as classified material. (We will be recording video for a government project.) My position is that our Sony combo VHS/DVD recorders don't have internal memory (no hard drives) and that as soon as the dvds and tapes are removed, they are harmless. I believe he is thinking in terms of TIVOs.
I am 95% sure that I am right but I wonder about the playlist capability. I have never used that function in any dvd recorder that I have ever owned. Nor have I ever really examined all the internal components of a dvd recorder to "verify" that there is no flash memory to capture still images of the video stream.
So which of us is right?
Thanks
