    Firstly, an apology.

This is my first post and although looking through the topics, I can't find this problem already posted, so if I'm duplicating a query, I'm sorry.

I'm trying to add an audio file, or better still, a playlist if I ever get that far, to a series of images in DVD slideshow GUI. However when I select the wav or mp3 file I get the message "Can't load the file - file path\file.wav - AVIFileSource couldn't open file - file path\file.wav if it's a wav file or Can't load the file - file path\file.mp3 if it's an mp3 file.

What am I doing wrong? I've created and burnt a DVD of the images which works fine and I thought I would have another go and add some background music, not quite so easy it would seem.

I'm using GUI v.0.9.1.6 and the files were converted using Creative converter.

I'm not tekky in any way and certainly don't know my way round the video scene at all. Having said that I really like the GUI and am dissapointed that I'm stuck on what I would be a simple operation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  2. No all wav/mp3 are readable for the avisynth plugin used to import audio. I haven't found a pattern yet(but I don't think mp3 with embedded album covers work).

However you could try to update DSG to 0.9.2.4 and allow it to download and install the additional files. Then after the installation(and if the mp3 still doesn't work), you could open in start/programs/ffdshow/Audio decoder configuration make sure that mp3 isn't disabled.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Do I need to uninstall my previous version first?

  4. Oh, I just remembered that the 0.9.2.4 will not open files from 0.9.1.6. Instead of updating try to install ffdshow and do as I mentioned above.
    (Installing 0.9.2.4 will uninstall 0.9.1.6)

  5. Did ffdshow solve your problem?

    Hmm

No I dont think it has. Whilst I have ffdshow on my programmes list and can open the "Make AVIS" dialogue box, nothing happens when I clikck on the "Audio decoder configuration" link.

So I'm not really much wiser unfortunately.

Currently thinking of installing 9.2.4 and starting from scratch again. Bit of a shame but it might be the easiest way for me.

  7. Sounds like you should try to reinstall ffdshow. The Audio decoder config should open.

    I don't believe this!
I've uploaded the latest ffdshow and it still refuses to run on the PC I'm trying to run DSG on ( momentary egg timer displayed then back to desktop). Uploading ffdshow onto my old PC which probably doesn't have the resources to fly with DSG, and it runs fine.

    Now I'm really struggling.

By the way, thanks for your patience and prompt responses.

  9. There are a lot of versions of ffdshow around - try to find a newer version maybe?

    Update.

Having struggled on without success, I bit the bullet, uninstalled ffdshow and updated DSG to 9.2.5.

After re-importing my original images I was able to add an MP3 playlist ,result - DVD burnt successfuly with audio, brilliant! Long winded but got there in the end.

Thanks for your patience, and thanks for a superb piece of software.
