I have a few movies that are around 4-5 GIGs each and contain a bunch of Video TS files. I know that these are meant to be burned onto DVD but I want to just make all these Video TS files into 1 basic AVI or MPeg file. Is it possible? If so what do you recommened is the best program that I use?

  2. aimersoft dvd ripper, add the Video_ts files and convert to avi, or use format factory and convert them to 2-pass h.264 avis and achieve half the size of the first option with same quality

To get a standard mpeg-2 file use VOB2MPG. It wont make the files much smaller, but you will get the original video and audio out of the VOB format.

Use AutoGK to convert to Divx/Xvid encoded AVI files. AVI.net is another easy to use option.

They are VOB files, and they come from a DVD. They should also have an IFO file. Either load the IFO file or the first VOB file (numbered 01), and the rest will be included if necessary.

Of course, there could be multiple movies inside a set of VOBs. If you are sure there is only one, load the IFO or first VOB file. If you think there are multiple videos (e.g. episodes of a series) then use DVD Shrink to split them up, then convert, or use VOB2MPG to extract all the titles, then convert each one.
