I made a compilation CD (with CD Text also) and placed the info
for the CD in my cdplayer.ini folder - all is well. But I made the
compilation for a friend. I'm not sure he has anything to read
CDText so can I copy and paste the info from my CDplayer.ini
file and tell him to paste it onto the bottom of his CDplayer.ini file?
    Is it that simple?

I noticed there is a space between all of the entries in the text...I'm guessing
    that is crucial?

I'm just now trying to learn about CD Text, so this may not be of any help. It comes from:

    http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/CDPlayer.ini
"CDPlayer.ini: The file CDPlayer.ini is a local cache of disc metadata, it is created from CDText or from an Internet lookup (such as YADB or an external program). When a disc is looked up or submitted to YADB, the data is also added to CDPlayer.ini. To change CDPlayer.ini data for a disc, insert the disc, correct the data, and submit it to YADB. This will also write the corrected info to the file."

If your friend has Windows Media Player the following plug-in will allow him to see the info:

    http://bmproductions.fixnum.org/index.htm?http://bmproductions.fixnum.org/moreprogs/wmpcdtext.htm

(The above two lines are the complete address.) Or just lookup BM-productions program: WMPCDText.)

I've used version 1.1 and it works for me.

Also, I've been playing around with various programs to add/edit CD Text and so far Nero Express Essentials has been the only one that I've had much success with - Windows Media Player seemed to work the first time that I tried it but then the edit function grayed-out -don't know why - yet. ImgBurn and CDex are supposed to allow it but it's not clear to me that they do - they mention MP3 tags which don't seem to be the same thing.

So what did you use to create the CD Text info?

I burn with Prassi Ones to ensure the CDText is in place....and can confirm it does create CDText by opening the burned CD in ISOBuster...the text is all there.

Thanks for the quick reply, indeed ISOBuster does read the info. from the CD that I hand entered (using the Nero edit function and then burned with same).

What burner do you use? I've read that burning and reading CDText is also hit or miss depending on manufacturer....well the burning part mostly. I'm an "LG Guy"...

Just found out that ImgBurn also does CDText.

    Burner= LG GSA-H42N : )

Thanks for the IngBurn url - I had looked at that but my impression (after reading a fair bit in wikipedia about both CD Text and Cue files) is that they are not the same. It seems that CD Text is mostly used by some hardware CD players - mainly those in cars, and that Cue files are mostly for software CD players.

As I mentioned above, it took an add-on for Microsoft Media Player to be able to show CD Text.

    Thanks again.

Yea....CDText and CDPlayer ini are completely different as well. I probably could have worded my original post a bit better.
