    hello everyone,

im at my wits end trying to figure out this problem.im quite a newbie where converting videos to dvd is concerned.here's my problem..i have a samsung plasma tv and a toshiba dvd (old model) player whereas my neighbour has a phillips dvd (new model) player and a crt television..

the other day i loaned my neighbours a couple of dvds which i purchased such as pirates of the carribean(all 3 ) the omen, ocean's thirteen, etc etc..they could play the dvds and there was audio and video..so no problem..

yesterday i converted and burned a couple of avi videos to dvds using convertxtodvd..i left everything mostly automatic...after converting and burning,i tried playing them on my neighbours dvd player...well,there was video but there was no audio!!! when i played them on my dvd player,i could get video and audio...so weird!!!

i tried changing to mepg stereo,ac3 channel 2,ac3 channel 5.1 but there is still no audio when i played the converted dvds on my neighbours dvd player..

what could be the problem?? how come there is audio when i play on my dvd player and tv, but not on my neighbours dvd player and tv??is there something wrong with my conversion process or my neighbours tv???

also, how is it that my neighbours dvd player can play normal dvds(there is video and audio) but not the ones i made??

i really need some help here...

here's the AVI video and audio file information before converting-

    Quality: XviD, 624 x 352, VBR MP3

after converting : i cant get the audio info because the TS AUDIO folder is empty...

it's always empty for video dvds. everything is in the video_ts folder. use mediainfo on one of the large vobs and it will tell you what kind of audio is there.

It could be that the different players merely defaulted to different audio tracks, some of which may be "dummy" tracks that happen to be blank. Try selecting a different track with those players that seem to have a problem and see if you can get them to play.

I'm assuming you are PAL? Try setting CX2D to PAL instead of Automatic.
