Is there an effective way to extract audio from internet websites whether it be from a video, streaming audio or embeded audio?

This may be considered a bit off topic but I don't know where else to pose this question.

There is audio out there I'm really interesting in getting but it's not necessarily available for direct download, so I'm trying to cover that scenario/contingency.

Any and all help greatly appreciated as usual.

    Any pointers welcome!

In general, I think your two main options are 1) find ways to download the streaming content (read the "How to capture/record streaming Google, youtube,Flash, ASF,WMV,RM,Quicktime" sticky) and (if there is also a video element to it) demux it so that it separates out the video and audio and, if necessary, convert the resulting audio file or 2) use a program that records directly what your sound card is/would be playing (often called "What U Hear" or something along those lines.) I haven't done much of that sort of thing, but those are two areas to start with, and I'm sure other people will add more details

    No quality loss whatsoever.
