Time stretch changes the duration. You can insert silence for the amount of time you need to delay a section.

Personally I would do this type of edit in either Vegas or Reaper, where I can split the audio and drag it around more freely.

  3. Insert silence to create a delay in the audio, delete a short section to advance.

  5. You don't replace audio with silence; you add silence before the audio (when delaying the audio).

Then you don't really want the anwser.

    Audio sync problems 101.

    1. Audio is out from the start by a constant amount. Easy to fix - simply add silence or delete some audio at the start to line the audio and the video up.

    2. Audio starts in sync, but drifts out over time. Cause (a) is that the frame rate of the video has been changed during encoding. The audio duration must be changed to match using an audio editor with a stretch facility. Cause (b) is usually related to bad timecode issues with analogue capture and is difficult to repair. Often requires cutting the audio into segments and shifting and stretching in parts. Time consuming.

    3. Audio starts in sync, but drifts in and out over time. Usually related to variable framerate video or variable bitrate audio. Get a better player or learn virtualdub and avisynth.

    4. Audio starts in sync, then at some point (usually following a visible glitch), the audio shifts out of sync. Cut the audio and at the break point and delay it forwards or backwards to line it up.

If you need to add something into the audio to delay it, and you don't like silence, then find some appropriate background audio and mix that in instead.

There is no easy, one-button solution to your problem. You don't want to put in the work then either don't fix it (and live with the issue), or find a better source for your video

It's in Process - > Insert Silence. By default 'start of the file' is selected in dropdown. You can change it to 'cursor position' (or to 'end of the file' in another situation) then type the desired delay value and confirm.
