  1. Hi all..

I don't have much clues on what overlay can affect a capture.. I only noticed that overlay made you able to view in better quality what you were capturing. With my ATI AIW 128 and my bad monitor, I had to adjust the overlay to the maximum to be able to see my videos. Theses settings worked great since I install the Wrapper for ATI and after I tried to reinstall the MMC 7.2 ....

I tried after that to capture, but I always have a video in "non-overlay" in Virtual Dub. The overlay setting in the top menu is checked like it always be, but now it seems that even if I try to capture with PicVideo or Huffyuv, I have the same problem : Kind of green and pink video movie... :( What do I have to do now??

    Thanx alot!

  2. .. well :( I cant believe no one can help me on that.

I have further informations to add about my problem.

I have installed 2 Ulead software : VideoStudio 4.0 SE and MediaStudio Pro 6.5 Trial. I really think theses caused the problem. I have uninstalled them but nothing changed, still have the same problem here. I noticed too that I CAN capture in avi correctly with the ATI TV Software. But I cannot with any other software capture program : FreeVCR, VirtualDub, etc... I am under XP and I have a 1700+ ..

Can anyone have any idea? Any suggestion would be appreciated!

For now, I will simply re-install my codecs (even if they work with ATI TV) :( ... And If you wonder why I don't simply use the ATI TV for capturing, it's because there is too much drop frames comparing to VirtualDub.

    Thanx alot for your help!

You may have to reinstall MMC 7.2 since you have remove ulead, etc. I'm not sure ifyou can use MMC 7.5 or not.

As far a VirtualDub and overlay, I always turn both overlay and preview off (uncheck both of them) before I start to capture. Also, I've had all kinds of problems with VirtualDub, sometimes it seems to get messed up andI thing it is because the drivers get changed by other systems that are also capable of video capture using the VDFWDM drivers. I had to completely remove VirtualDub, uninstall the drivers, and go into REGedit and remove any mention of VirtualDub. Then I reinstalled everything toget it to work.

One other thing you should try,... Use MMC 7.2 to capture in MPEG-2 with "I" frames only in 640x480 up to 15mbs and 100% motion detection on. This should give you very high quality that you can then input to TMPGen and compress to VCD or SVCD. My system is not as good as yours (750 MHZ AMD), and I've had to tune almost everything in it to get to a good level of recording. Also, if you're going to use VirtualDub, you only need to capture at 480x480 to get the quality you need for SVCD.

Hope this helps,.. if not, try tuning your system, checking that you have the latest drivers, directX8.1, etc.
