If you are only muxing, then there would be no quality loss. If you re-encode the audio, there will be some quality loss. But unless your audio is very high quality to start with, I doubt you will notice much of a difference. I generally use Audacity with WAV audio. I don't know what audio format your WMV started out with, but YouTube will probably re-encode it anyway. I don't know that MP3 is compatible with WMV video.

There are lossless audio formats you could also try. The newest versions of Audacity can output in quite a few formats.

You wont lose that much quality by normalizing the wav with for example audacity or wavegain. Then try add back the new wav to the wmv using wmvmuxer. Upload to youtube.


You could also try Windows Media File Editor included in Windows Media Encoder and change the peak and average value in the wmv...but it might be ignored the youtube converter later. See the last screenshot in http://www.plattsburgh.edu/technology/it/help/streamingmedia/mediafileeditor.php .
