I don't use convertxtodvd, but may I ask why you are doing this? It seems to me that doing
BluRay -> single/double layer BluRay -> DVD
is really a lot less optimal than simply doing
DVD rip -> DVD
It makes no sense to me that you are doing this from BluRays you bought unless maybe you are making copies for cheap friends/family, so if you are downloading the BluRays from the internet, just download DVD rips instead and your life would be better. -
i am making a few back-ups of my blue rays for other dvd players in the house.this is to preserve my blue ray and so they dont get scrathed up by the kids.

If you read the comments from our tools list, https://www.videohelp.com/tools/ConvertXtoDVD , you will see that this is common. Maybe you can use 2-pass encoding and you can get more exact sizes, see https://forum.videohelp.com/topic367624.html

That's just the way it is sometimes. It you want more details spend a few hours at VSO's forums. Do try again with the 'High Quality-> Long encoding time' option. The 'problem' seems to be more of perception than of actual quality. Do note that CX2D's main objective is for is for speedy conversion of Xvids and other compressed files. Seeing as you are starting with a high quality source why not try another app better suited to the job. AVStoDVD (free) should suit your needs. Lock in 2 pass HCenc as your encoder and see how it looks. It will fill your disc and should provide a superior result... but it will take considerably longer.Originally Posted by dvd1304
