Can anyone save my sanity? I added all my old video clips from my old laptop running XP on to my Acer Aspire 7720G running Vista. They all seemed ok, then when i tried to play them through Windows Media Center they now appear cropped, it doesnt show the full video, this only effects the MP4 ones MPG are fine. I have installed VLC player and its the same on that now too. I installed a Vista codec pack for media player a while back but the MP4 vids wont play on that. when playing on VLC player i checked the codec it says Resolution: 640x480 but Display resolution: 320x240 i havent changed any of the settings. Any help anyone can offer might just save what little hair i have left. Sorry for being a biff!

just downloaded quicktime, and they all work fine on that player

Did you ever get a solution to this, I too have been able to playback in QT or media player classic, but this 'bug' creates problems when i try to convert to other formats etc, depending on which program i am using.
What is the source of the videos, mine is a sanyo digital camera -
Still no idea whats going on with them. They work on quicktime still, but the preview on the icon remains cropped.
