    Hello,

since I bought my new DLNA enabled TV (Samsung B650 series) I just gout an idea to store all my DVD collection at PC and just stream it directly to the TV. I'm using Samsung PC Share manager as DLNA server - software provided with the TV. But I do not know how to properly convert my DVDs. In PC converted avi has no problem, but when I try to watch it at TV after some time I get audio out of sync. I also try to put converted avi into the external herd drive and watch it directly and not through the DLNA server but with the same problem. Resulting avi has MPEG-4 video and AC-3 5.1 channel audio. Does anybody know where should be a problem or how to properly convert DVDs to avi for the Samsung TV?

    Thanks.

How do you convert now? I would use AutoGK, HandBrake, StaxRip, etc and maybe also try with mp3 audio and see how it works.

You might also try using something other than the provided software, as in this recent post : https://forum.videohelp.com/topic372141.html

The problem may be the conversion, but it may also be the streaming tools provided by Samsung.

I have a similar problem... I have ripped the DVD using DVD Dycypter and then used handbrake to convert the Video to XVid.

The .avi play perfectly on the PC but the video and audio are way out of sync when streamed to my Samsung A856 TV using the PC Share software provided by Samsung.

Other .avi's 'dowloaded' play fine on PC and TV, so not sure if it is the streaming software at fault.

I have seen elsewhere on this forum that it may be the fault of the Decryptor itself not handling the scrambling correctly... will try DVDFab Decrypter and see if there is any difference.

Would appreciate any other ideas though.

DVD Decrypter is old software and hasn't been updated in several years. if the disc is a recent one then it may well be a decryption problem. DVDFab Decrypter is the current ripping tool of choice unless you are happy to pay for AnyDVD HD.

I also suspect that the Samsung software is the main cause of your problems, however, and would strong suggest you try Windows Media Player or TVersity.

OK, I have re-ripped using DVDFab Decrypter and re-encoded using Handbrake... but still have issues.

After some initial jumpy video, the video seems to be playing at double speed when viewed on the TV (PC viewing is fine).

I have tried both TVersity and WMP, but both behave the same as the Samsung software.

    Any other ideas?

I don't use Handbrake, but I'd advise checking to be sure that the audio is not VBR (variable bit rate) MP3. VBR MP3 can cause sync problems on some playback devices. You should be able to set your audio to CBR (constant bit rate) MP3 with whatever you are encoding with. If your audio is already CBR MP3, then this isn't your problem.

Welcome to the forums. Your first post is arguably a thread hijack and we don't like that around here. It would have been safer to have just started your own thread because your TV is not the same model as the one in the original thread but since the mods haven't come down on you for this, you got lucky.

I have encoded with Variable and Constant bit rate mp3 and the result is the same... I have also encoded with the original AC3 which also has the same problem.

To be clear the sound itself plays perfect, it's just that the video plays at double speed.

I have tried Xilisoft DVD Ripper which has encoded the Audio and Video in sync but there is a black border all around (top bottom and sides), not sure why.

Have Samsung B650 - had a lot of trouble - Audio out of sync , invalid file format. Movies worked via USB but not DNLA - upgraded the firmware for the TV which to a large part solved the invalid file format issues via DNLA. Used DVDFab Decrypter and then converted to Video using Slysoft Clone DVD (XVid format) Ratio 720x404, 640x360 - other ratios didn't work - streamed with Twonky. TV auto fits the movie to the screen size for most films
