hi, my vlc won't play .DTS files properly. They play choppy and cut out repeatedly. I tried turning the .dts file into a multichannel wave through vlc, but since it's not playing properly, even the wav, while not choppy anymore, doesn't sound like it should.

are the apps to convert from DTS to multi channel wav that might fix the audio problem?

and how about something to get .DTS files to play properly on my mac or even in VLC

    thanks

Some files don't play correctly in VLC on Macs. Also, if your video is 1920x1080, there were some bugs in iMacs in particular that I don't think ever got fixed where the iMac tried to resize all 1920x1080 video. The problem is that the iMac screen size is slightly larger than 1920x1080 and the iMac would try to resize it up to the native screen size. It was just too much for the CPU to keep up with and video wouldn't play correctly. 1280x720 video plays fine though as the iMac doesn't try to resize that. This is really an iMac issue not a VLC issue. Note that VCD has never played correctly on a Mac using VLC. VLC works, mostly, on Mac but it has issues.

By the way, you posted on Saturday. Weekends are poor times to ask for help around here. Many regular members don't read the forums on weekends.

Yes, it is possible to convert DTS to WAV or Dolby, but on a Mac? HA HA HA HA HA HA! Good luck. I have no idea what tools you could possibly use. Sorry, but the reality is that all the good tools are on Windows. I hate Windows with a passion and I have a Mac at home, but I do all of my video work on Windows because that's where the tools are. Maybe ffmpeg can help you here, but that's just a guess.

well I found a way that works on mac, but it requires VLC, and there's the problem. It doesn't play properly in VLC, so once i output the .WAV it doesn't sound right.

also, it has nothing to do with video resolution as i'm not working with a video file. just the .DTS file itself.
