LCD Computer Monitors failing (inverter and/or florescent backlight)

Here we go again, first my Viewsonic VA912, now my Samsung 226bw. Both flicker on start or from power save recovery. When they finally pop on everything looks normal. This is a sure sign of an inverter failure or possible power supply weakness.

So I go to Google/Bing and can't find a low cost inverter source. http://www.lcdparts.net wants $140 for the subassembly which is unacceptable.

Does anyone know of a reasonable parts source for LCD monitors or LCD-TV sets? Soon I will own a dozen of these so need to fix in house.

I've noticed with most LCD sets the power supply is the problem. The cluprit is usually the electolytic capacitors which over heat because of compactness. When cold they have less capacitance but gain when warm.

If any caps are domed then replace them.

  3. The connector from lcdparts looks only has a few pins. Do you know what is the output to the CFL lamp ?

If Meghurts is right, then you should able to buy the cap from digikey.com.
