    Hello,

Since i'm using Vista, i'm seeing something strange when playing xvid video:

when i have no codecs installed and use VLC, i see horizontal lines going down. or more like "shifting" of the video horizontally at mutiple places at the same time. (shaky)

when i install cccp, same thing when i use WMP

Only when i install the normal/newest standalone xvid codec and use WMP, the video is normal.

I'm ow using Vista64 but i had this same problem with vista32.

    Any idea why this is?

    thanks!

It sounds like tearing so you could try google for tearing vlc and see if you get some tips. Usually a graphic driver or video overlay problem...but maybe not if it's just for Xvid video.

So does it JUST happen to xvid in VLC?

    No,

Also in WMP without xvid installed.
Also in WMP with cccp installed (xvid not installed)

It only works in WMP (or other non-VLC player) with xvid installed.

will look into the "tearing" thing...

    thnx

just saw a screenhot of "tearing" and it definatally looks like what i'm experiencing.

I'm gonna try to enable vsync in my nvidia settings, see if it helps.

but why would this only happen when not using the xvid codec....

    enabling vsync doesn't help.

When i use WMP / WMP classic all is fine.
I tried several settings in vlc.

should i try the "vista codec package"

Stop with codec packs and use gspot or media info to confirm what these "avi" files actually need and contain prior to installing a lot of junk ... codec packs should be avoided.
