    If you have 23.976 material, resize to 720 x 480, encode at 23.976 fps and apply 3:2 pulldown afterwards (DGpulldown if your encoder can't do it for you). Author as NTSC and you will get 29.970 fps playback.

    If you have 25 fps material then resize to 720 x 480, encode at 25 fps, then use DGPulldown to apply a custom pulldown 25fps -> 29.970 fps. Author as NTSC and you will get 29.970 fps playback

    This will allow all my dvd to play on dvd player with no errors right?
    My encoder does allow 3:2 pulldown i am using TMPGenc 4.0 xpress

    So for 25 fps material i have to encode first then use DGPulldown and apply a custom pulldown as you mentioned?
    25 fps -> 29.970

    Thanks

    Probably, but nobody can give you a 100% guarantee because
    1) Some DVD players are crap and they won't play discs that they should play.
    2) You might do something wrong in the process and not know it and then you blame the player when it's actually your fault.
    3) You might use poor quality media that your player doesn't play well or at all.
    4) You might do something like forget to finalize the disc and that won't play.
    5) If you are burning to dual layer media and even if you use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs and do every step correctly and burn it correctly and finalize it, your player still might refuse to play it as some older players won't play the second layer of any consumer burned DL media.

    If you are afraid, just burn to DVD+RW or DVD-RW. If that works you can then burn to DVD+R or DVD-R. I am assuming here that you are not using dual layer media, but if so, see warning #5 above.

    You sure? isn't there a '"Playback 3:2 pulldown" option in the MPEG output settings"?

    i believe you read my question wrong because tmpgenc does have 3:2 pulldown playback.
