I am trying to decide what video editing software I should purchase. I have tried a lot and have found Power Director & Ulead Video Studio the easiest software to use in regards to editing home video's adding Titles, Transitions and other effects. My problem is with the quality of the VCD I produce at the end of the whole process. The VCD when played on both my pc & my standalone VCD player is a little fuzzy and blocky. Before I started playing with editing software I read a lot of guides on this site about captureing and converting and decided to capture with VIRTUALDUB & HUFFY CODEC & use TMPGNE to convert. I have a TV capture card. The captured AVI (Pal VCD 352x288) look pretty good when preveiwed on the PC. Once converted using TMPGNE to mpg they still look pretty good when preveiwed on the PC. Once burnt using EasyVCD and then played on my standalone VCD player they don't look quite as good but still ok for VCD. But when I edit the captured avi in one of the above editing programs (worse in others I have Tried) & save as avi uncompressed then convert to mpg using tmpgne & burn with vcdeasy the play back quality is very poor. I have also tried to save the edited avi using the mpg convertions included in the editing software & the end resulte is the same.
Can anyone suggest a better way that might produce better results? Also, is one software better then the other out of the two I like?

Thanks.
