    Hello guys!

Bear with my english, since I'm from Denmark!

Well, I got this problem that I just don't know whether it is a good solution or not.
I ripped the Blu-rays contents to my HDD with AnyDVD HD. Now I got the .m2ts-files. I muxed it to an .ts-file and also demuxed all the contents. I also made a .mkv-file with MKVtoolnix. As you can see, I got some variants now.

Anyway, then I searched around for some solutions to make it an .avi-file. I found RibBot264, HDConverttoX. None of these seemed to be working. However, then I found XviD4PSP, which seems to be a fine program with lots of profiles.

I now want to ask, for those of you who tried the program, is it worth?

And another question. Since I've always prefered the .avi-extension, I've never given time to .mp4. But is .mp4 better than .avi? I mean, the reason why I prefer .avi, is because I can see the .srt subtitle files without burning the subtitles into the .avi-files. Because if you burn them into the .avi, you can't really switch them off. But can that be done with .mp4 also, to have .mp4 and .srt in two seperate files? Or can I switch the subtitle off, if I take them with in the encoding procedure.
And then at last: Is .mp4 more preferable than .avi? Please give a reason so I can understand

    In advance, thanks!

  2. AVI and MP4 are just containers for video players, what matters is what you put inside. You can read subtitles with mp4 too, it really depends on the player you are using. You can keep subtitles aside in a separate file if you don't want to embed them in your encoding.

I have tried xvid4psp, interface looks nice but got a lot of crashes on Vista64. RipBot is probably one of the best free progs but I gave up using it as encoding was too slow for me.
