    Hello,

I think I may be having some issues with WMP swapping codecs to play videos at different times.
Sometimes I play an interlaced video and it plays deinterlaced, sometimes the same video doesn't,
and it's irritating me. I'd like to go through and clean up all of the old/useless/conflicting
codecs that I have on my system. According to Windows Media Player, I have the following list of
codecs installed. GSpot gives me a whole different list. Could someone give me some advice on
how to go about eliminating the old ones I don't need? Some of these are linked with programs
I don't even have anymore, like ULead and the ancient Attila MPEG decoder. Honestly, for a lot
of these, I don't even know if they are used for anything.

  2. Rendering the file in graphstudio will tell you what current directshow filter chain is in use

You change the merit, unregister, or register other filters withing graphstudio or using radlight filter manager

ACM type or VFW type codecs are not used by WMP (WMP is a directshow player), but you can manage them with vcswap

I'm guessing you probably had a "codec pack" installed at one point...

I can do this with GSpot as well right? I was a little uncertain about the terminology, unregister means to remove, uninstall or delete? Is there a way to remove and delete them while knowing which decoders are necessary and which aren't? Also, I'm a little unsure about the filter type and what they mean exactly, for example, ICM and DMO.

It's very likely that when I first got this computer back in 2004 that I installed a codec pack. Ugh.
