Hi!
Im trying to burn an xvcd cd in Nero.
When I run the file on the computer everything looks ok.
But when Im running the cd (burned with nero) on my Sony NS-400 the picture "breaks" here and there. Except that, everything is ok!'
I burned the movie on a green disc in 12x speed.
Ive heard that both high speed and dark-colored discs may cause Sony players not read them very well.
But! I dont think 12x is a very high speed and the discs wasnt that dark.
So my questions are:
Can it be the speed
Can it be Nero ?
Can it be the color ? Ehh ?
Is there anyone out there that has the same problem and a solution for this ?

Haven't had any problems with Nero, but then, I don't have a Sony DVD. I have burned at 16x on Kodac discs and it was OK (on my Pioneer DVD)
A question that came to my mind is: What bit rate are you using? Are you sure your player can handle it? My Pioneer gives up somewhere around 2600 kbit/s. -
zreo,
Are you sure that your Sony-NS 400 plays XVCD ?
I think that's the first question.
My standalone DVD player does not play XSVCD. It plays compliant SVCD, but in other hand it plays XVCD.

What burner do you have? Make your you check burn proof or verify your file is exactly the same that you copied from your computer. I have this problem before, until I changed to burn proof. :D

Hi
Im pretty sure that I can play XVCD because there's alot of threads here about this and my model see for example:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=79876
And like I said. It works but the picture "breaks" here end there.
I dont know about the bitrate because I just followed the example in the link above.
I can check that thing about "burn - proof" but isn't that marked as default ? But I will check that ASAP.
If anyone else has this problem or has any ideas please send them in!
I can not be alone with this problem, or ? -
Did you encode the XVCD yourself or did you get it from some other source?
Most people who have problems with XVCD's in their standalone DVD players is because they record at such a high CBR (constant bitrate) that their DVD player can't keep up with the high bitrate which is why occasionally you'll get the speed up or slow down of the video and audio.
If that's the case then you should try encoding XVCD's with a VBR (variable bitrate) instead and set the bounds of the mpeg like so
MAX bitrate = your XVCD bitrate i.e. 2000kb/s
MIN bitrate = 1150kb/s VCD standard bitrate
AVG bitrate = something slightly below your XVCD bitrate i.e. 1750kb/s
Now if your break up is actually a "break up" in the picture where you see certain blocks jump around the screen and A/V sync is NOT the issue, then it's probably due to the media you were using, try playing around with different types of CD to see what your player can handle the best.
