I use "work" very loosely, because it may in fact work. Maybe my drives just dont like it. I have not tried BD Rebuilder Full disc mode in about 3 weeks, because 3 weeks ago I could not either of my 2 BluRay players to play it. Movie only mode worked like a charm, however when using full disc mode, the PS3 would say data disc. And my Panny BD80 would say Unplayable disc.

I have tried that AVCHD patcher program, but that did not work either. tried v 1.4, v1.5 and 1.6

    Thanks for any insight.

Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with this.

We had a thread last week about something similar. It seems that full disc mode NEVER works with the PS3. It may also have problems with other BluRay players. Movie only mode seems to work just about everywhere.

So, what do you use to do a full BluRay backup? I have used AVCHDcoder in the past. Works nice. However, when you have an episode Bluray, its kind of annoying.

  4. I recently made full disc backups of several movies to BD-25 using BD-Rebuilder. My Blu-ray player is a Sony BDP-S350. "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "2001 a Space Odyssey" and "The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" all worked. "Prince Caspian" did not work. I made a movie only backup of "Prince Caspian" and it did work.

I use bdrb and make full backups to bd25 media and it works perfectly on my ps3. That is the only blu player I have.

I definitely should have specified that my answer meant that full disc backups to DVD-5 and DVD-9 don't work on the PS3 according to reports. Sorry for not saying that as it was important.

    Thanks mrswla for your post.

  7. Perhaps the question could be rephrased and split into two:

    1) Does BDRB "Full Backup" mode work for BD-25, BD-9, and BD-5?

Yes to all three. Usually. I suspect if/when it does not, the fault lies most times with the rip, i.e. protection was not correctly removed. (Perhaps it would be wise to stay up-to-date with AnyDVDHD.) I recently did several "Band of Brothers" discs with the latest BDRB, discs which are fairly complex, featuring episodes and interactive time lines. I also have Prince Caspian, and will have a go at it in "Full Disc" mode.

    2) Will it work on my particular set-top? Who knows? There's a thread at Doom9 on that very question. :P

My Sony BDP-S360 plays everything I've made, and during my learning process I made AVCHDs lots of ways. With or without Certificate folder, patched or unpatched index file, strict or not-so-strict compliance, BDRB files, multiAVCHD files, tsMuxer files, TotalMediaExtreme HD captures, etc. Even did a few for PS3 specifically until I noticed it set that way in TME.

Apologies to the OP, just adding my own observations. Sorry I can't address your issue with your PS3.

I have absolutely no idea them. Most recent version of AnyDVD HD, ripped quantum of solace, full disc backup with BD Rebuilder. PS3 says data disc, Panny BD80 just shuts itself completely off. I have never ever been able to make a PS# compatuible will full disc mode on BD rebuilder. AVCHDcode works perfect. RipBot works perfect. BD Rebuilder, never ever worked. And i have authored at least 200 blurays, and they all work except BD Rebuilder full mode. I dont get it.

Only Sony SAP and some models from other manufacturers will play full backup disc with menu. Check doom9.org forum for complete list. No Panasonic SAP is compatible with full backup disc on DVD5 and DVD9.

Maybe BD Rebuilder will get the issue of only Sony models being able to play when the release is out of beta. Until then, movie works fantastic. At least i got that going for me. which is nice!

BD Rebuilder movie only output mode is just AVCHD disc.
Full Backup output retains original structure of Blu-Ray disc with down size file to fit DVD capacity.

AVCHD = Light Blu-Ray or Blu-Ray content on DVD media with with certain restrictions. For video only AVC/H264 compression with 4.0 or 4.1 profile (max 24Mbit/s) and for sound AC3 or liner PCM is allowed. So, no mpeg2, no VC1 compression, no HD audio and no JAVA menu.
For full mode to work HD audio, JAVA menu and Blu-ray structure on red laser media (DVD) is required. Some manufacturers like Sony, allow exceptions and from here the full backup mode is born. Others like Panasonic are verry strict with implementing standards and don`t allow Blu-Ray structure on DVD media.
So the issue is at hardware level (Blu-Ray player) not at the software level (BD Rebuider).

  12. Good stuff. Thanks Danno78 for the information. I recall reading somewhere (maybe Doom9) that the Panasonics were pickier than the Sonys. How about LG? Anyone know?

Lg BD370 is compatible with full mode. I've tested in store. It was Viva Las Vegas on DVD+RW and LG recognized the disc as BD with full acces to menu and extra.
Note: one user report some problems with LG BD370. See more http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144674
Also some models from Samsung is compatible with full backup mode after Auxdata folder is removed. The Samsung BD-P3600 with the latest FW accept disc with Auxdata folder and booktype should not be set as DVD-ROM.

I have an LG BD200 and it will play ANYTHING you can throw at it!
BUT, be very careful how far up the Firmware ladder you go, I don't remember which firmware right off had it is, but once you go past it, nothing will work as far as Blu-Ray on DVD discs. I call the company's tech support and complained about this and they told me that SONY had put stipulations on the fact Blu-Ray is Blu-Ray and DVD is DVD... so now, it will NOT play Blu-Ray movies on DVDs... So I re-flashed the system (LG BD200) with their older firmware and it now plays ANYTHING you can deal to it.

danno78, thanks a bunch. That makes sense, because i used txmuxer once with BluRay as the output, and neither player would play it. When i switched to avchd, both players played it just fine. Interesting..

Hi there Guys I have a question: When you guys are making full back up to either dvd-r or bd-r, do you keep all audios and subs or you customize it? 'cause nothing works for me so far. please help.
    Quote Quote
  18. I uncheck the "limit to one track for each language" box for the audio and subtitle and then select the english box for the audio and subtitles.

Be more specific than just "cause nothing works for me so far", nobody really knows what you mean by that? Are you getting an error message? What is the disc you are doing?

What I meant was, I have done various full backups with English and Spanish audio and the subs included but when press play on blu-ray player nothing happens. I did a full copy of TAKEN with English And Spanish Audio I put it in bluray player and I can see the ready-to-play picture before I hit play but nothing happens(like there is no disc inside) I tried this with dvd9 and bd25 both with the same result. So I was wondering if I do a full copy(clone) will it play(all audio and all subs)

So, i got a new BluRay player, the Oppo BDP-83. Fantastic player by the way, the best by far that I have owned. Tried a full disc of the movie Splinter. I put it in there, and it says "wrong disc". Did a movie only and it works fine. SO, i have never ever been able to get a full disc copy to work on any Bluray player. PS3, Panny BD80 and my new Oppo. No errors in AnyDVD, no errors in BD Rebuilder. What the heck is going on?
    Quote Quote
  22. Splinter, the movie where they are trapped in a gas station? I did a full copy months ago and it works on my PS3. The only time I've had problems with bdrb and full mode, is when new encryption comes out. But normally when that happens, neither full nor movie only mode works.
