I have a video encoded with a resolution of 512x384 (4:3). When I watch it in MPC with default settings on, it appears stretched from top to bottom. So I have to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 manually. Looks fine then.

Now, I'd like to convert that movie to DVD using FAVC. And I want it to show in 16:9. There's a way to do that in C2XDVD. Anyhow, I use FAVC. So, is there a switch (like in MPC) to accomplish that?

Can't you set the aspect ratio under dvd options in FAVC(was a long time I ?

Or else change the aspect ratio in the avi using mpeg4 modifier and see if favc reads it. If mp4 use yamb or mkv mkvtoolnix to set aspect ratio.

I believe to do this in favc you need to use FitCD to create an Avisynth script that will correctly resize and pillarbox your video for 16:9 output, run it through FAVC, then use IFOEdit/PGCEdit to alter the DAR to 16:9 in the IFO files.

mpeg4 mod wouldn't work. maybe fitcd can do it. if eventually nothing else works, maybe the tv has an 4:3 / 16:9 switch to make it look right...

Try this handy little app on your finished DVD.

Load up your IFO, then under video set it at 16:9. It may look like it's stalled some times, just let it finish. Great for demultiplexing VOBs and creating DVDs from random VOBs also.

I've found a solution: I've converted the avi to DVD with FAVC. Since that gave a 4:3 output I changed the AR settings with PgcEdit. Now it looks 16:9 and everything's fine

Thanks for your efforts to help!
