  1. i haven't attempted to use tmpgenc's split function since v12a & i'm incredulous at how utterly shitty it still is even after over a dozen builds! tmpgenc is a godsend for manual ivtc, but i'm so disgusted now that i refuse to have anything more to do with this piece of shit now or ever(i prefer aviutil auto-ivtc anyway despite the snail's pace). my real problem is with bbmpeg(i'd have to be out of my mind to resort to tmpgenc first). no matter what i try i'm unable to get bbmpeg to split this file: cce encoded mpeg2 352x480 vbr 0-1975-2550; bbmpeg encoded 44.1khz 128kbps audio

    1. mux(bbmpeg) entire duration=success no errors
    2. mux(bbmpeg) 0-3135sec=success no errors
    3. mux(bbmpeg) 3105-6120sec=failure lockup @ 99% multiplex
    4. mux(bbmpeg_vfw) 3105-6120sec=failure lockup @ 99% multiplex
    5. mux(bbmpeg beta17) 3105-6120sec=failure lockup @ 99% multiplex
    6. mux(bbmpeg) 3105-6119sec=failure lockup @ 99% multiplex
    7. mux(tmpgenc) entire duration>demux(tmpgenc)>mux(bbmpeg) 3105-6120sec=failure lockup @ 99% multiplex
    8. mux(bbmpeg) entire duration>demux(tmpgenc)>mux(bbmpeg) 3105-6120sec=failure lockup @ 99% multiplex
    9. mux(bbmpeg) entire duration>split(tmpgenc)=success async audio dropout last 2 sec
    10. mux(bbmpeg) entire duration>split(tmpgenc)>demux(tmpgenc)>mux(bbmpeg) =success audio dropout last 2 sec

i am dreading resorting to either m2-edit or womble. i played around with m2-edit awhile back & was completely stupified. is there anything i haven't tried to get bbmpeg to work?

  2. after extensive testing i've concluded mpeg2vcr & m2-edit are worthless for even the simplest svcd editing. shit, frame accuracy wasn't even a factor(i intentionally split on i-frames) & both failed utterly. i would not have thought it possible, but mpeg2vcr performance was twice as shitty as tmpgenc(how do they get people to shell out $250?). enough rant, this is how i solved my problem: at 99% lockup in bbmpeg i click pause & abort the operation>demux the broken file in tmpgenc>remux in bbmpeg. as it turns out i only loose the last couple frames(black anyway)....the audio is in perfect sync & not truncated in the slightest

  3. Actually, I use M2 Edit 4.0 and I have no problems with it. The only issues I had was that it wouldn't edit a 3:2 pulldown MPEG2 unless the pulldown flags were removed, and that the final cut pieces had to be remultiplexed in TMPGEnc as M2 appears to not be able to properly multiplex SVCD. But it works very well on doing frame accurate cuts. I couldn't get frame accurate cuts with MPEG2VCR as easily, but it also worked using the above process. Still worth a try if you have a little patience.
