I know there is a lot of discussion on this board about converting from PAL to NTSC, but I am not seeing anything about a quick way to find out whether a DVD-R/+R is PAL or NTSC. As far as I can tell VLC doesn't show framerate under the more information bar. I can extract files and MyDVDEdit will provide the information and the same is true for MPEGStreamclip. But is there a program or a way to know this information without extracting a VOB or a VIDEO_TS folder?

If your discs are DVD-R/+R, then you have unencrypted media. Drop the first VOB of the title onto MPEG Streamclip and then, when it opens it, "get info" (Cmd-I). You'll see the information you seek.

There are various ways to do this. The free version of the Tecoltd Bitrate Viewer will tell you if you open a VOB with it. Actually, it gives you the resolution and frames per second, but you can figure it out from that.

no need to extract, just double click on a .IFO (or .BUP) located inside the VIDEO_TS inside your DVD, to launched MyDVDEdit.Originally Posted by danielmak
you won't be able to modify the DVD, but no concern to read informations. So, that's very quick!
