    Hi,

I have a MKV file with H264 video, AC3 audio and external .SRT subtitles.

I would now like to be able to play this video including subtitles on my PS3 without re-encode it.

I have tried tsMuxer, and the process gives me a .m2ts files with no errors. But when I play it on my PS3 from an USB stick, the PS3 can't find any subtitles. The video and audio plays fine, just without subtitles. If I try to enable the subtitles from the PS3 menu, it just says that there are no subtitles available.

The PS3 firmware is 2.80 so it should be able to play the subtitles.

If I open the .m2ts file in VLC player, no subtitles are available.

    Please help

    Thanks,
    Futterama

I think you need a complete avchd/blu-ray structure to play with subs. Not just play the m2ts.

Baldrick, you might be correct. I actually succeeded making a AVCHD burned to DVD that worked with subs but the picture looked like my TV couldn't handle it (black/white and very poor quality). It looked like when I connect my computer and select NCTS as the video output - my TV is analog/old CRT PAL type. Would the AVCHD format override the picture settings on the PS3?
I tried to create the AVCHD with both multiAVCHD and mkv2vob, but same result with the picture on my TV.

Load your file into uncropmkv and see if it meets AVCHD resolution spec.

I made an AVCHD with tsmuxer once where the video was cropped (1280x720p to 1280x544, I think) and the PS3 saw the disc, tried to play the m2ts file, and it came out with weird green colors.

If you're using Windows system, try "AVCHDMe",
it changes the firmware to something( can't remember) which is what PS3 only reads.

You still have to have the correct resolution, and the symptoms described above sound suspiciously like the resolution in this case is wrong.
