  1. As the title suggests, ripping a bluray with anydvd, then using tsremux to grab the video stream and the dolby true hd sound stream and it works as one single m2ts file when playing from mpc on my computer, but when i transfer it to the ps3, it plays the video but not the sound. i dont have a hdmi cable the sound is normal red white cables, run component for video.

also is there an application that can cut frame to frame of m2ts files yet. ive tried sony vegas it doesnt import the media.

  3. No matter what cables you will use, PS3 will never play DTS or TrueHD in file (XMB player) mode. To get most of it you need AVCHD/Blu-ray player mode, which supports both DTS-HD/MA/HRA and TrueHD and VC-1 video.

And.. anyway - why would you keep the whole TrueHD when you're using the red-white cables?

Use the 'core-extract' / 'downmix' option in tsMuxeR and you can get TrueHD core available which will play (I believe).

  4. will be getting new tv with hdmi soon.

want the quality as high as possible in just the one file. cant i just copy the file across to the ps3 and play it from the hd. i did that but the sound didnt work.

    avchd/bluray player mode ?

    core-extract/downmix option ?

just trying txmuxer now, opened the largest m2ts file from the anydvd bluray rip from my hd, selected VC-1, the 6 channel ac3 and the and the true-hd ac3.

this will give me 1 file with the video and the two sound channels, right ? no loss of quality.. thats what im after...

anyways ill see how it goes on the ps3 after this. seems strange the tsremux hasnt done exactly the same thing..

maybe its that i only ripped the true-hd sound and it hasnt played the sound on the ps3 cause i dont have the audio output option...

It sounds to me like you need to do a little more research into the PS3's capabilities. The "file mode" and "blu-ray/avchd" mode that multiAVCHD spoke of are the two different ways that the PS3 handles video content. File mode as its name implies plays files directly from the hard drive of the PS3 or from a media server. The blu-ray/avchd mode is the mode that only plays movies from discs (or in AVCHD's case, from hard drives as well). Both modes support different audio formats.

Anyway, pertaining to your original question, file mode on the PS3 WILL NOT play TrueHD or DTS MA no matter what kind of cables or options you use. It is only capable of playing regular dolby digital ac3 audio, aac, mp3, or 2-channel wma. If you really want to have TrueHD and DTS MA capability, you're going to have to research playing movies in AVCHD mode from an external hard drive like multiAVCHD mentioned. If you don't have a receiver at all and are playing the sound directly through the tv then you won't be able to get the full benefit of TrueHD and DTS MA anyway, so you may as well convert to regular dolby digital, in other words, use core-extract/downmix option in tsmuxer. Also, forgot to mention that file mode doesn't support the VC-1 video codec either, only AVC, so another reason why you should research the AVCHD mode. Hope that helps.

  6. yeah it does, sounds like ill need to go the htpc route if i want to play HD based blurays in surround sound trueHD...

    shiiiiiieeet

what about hacking the ps3, surely this would be one of the motives for modifying a ps3..

  7. You seem to miss the point here. PS3 plays perfectly VC-1 + TrueHD. You will simply need an external USB HDD to put the 'converted' file (after you run it trough multiAVCHD or tsMuxeR (avchd mode)).

  8. seemingly, above bmo wrote 'file mode on the PS3 WILL NOT play TrueHD'

so if i have a large ps3 HD i cant copy across via media server or from my ipod the file to the ps3 to have it run.. or i can ?

  9. Try researching a piece of software call AVCHD manager use it together with Tsmuxer and an external hard drive, use Tsmuxer to produce AVCHD discs then store them on the external hard drive. Use AVCHD manager to select which film you want to watch.

You can use whatever Audio, subs, you want
