Gday,
So i've just arrived back to a world of internet and telecommunications from the islands of Indonesia... thanks to those who answered my last post.. much appreciated.
I have an issue whereby I have created a short (7min) film in Sony Vegas platinum pro 9.
I guess it is relatively highly edited with many overlays, sounds, transitions, effects, colour alterations etc.
The film looks great when viewing in preview prior to rendering it....
unfortunately when I render it, the process takes about 40min and then when I try to view the rendered file, it is completely out of synch, with poor audio, little to no visual and generally absolutely undecipherable!
I have tried re-rendering a bunch of times.![]()
I did not have a problem rendering the draft version of the film, which was roughly the same content, just less alterations in colour, less music, fewer transitions etc....
The PC i am using is different to the specs listed in my user account and are as follows:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
T7300 @2.00GHz
777 MHz, 3.00 GB of RAM
I just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced this problem and if so how did you come to a solution?
Is the PC not powerful enough?
Is the film to complicated, ie too editing?
Would rendering the film on a more powerful computer fix the problem?
Sorry for the issues guys - any response and help is greatly appreciated

The power of the PC really only determines how long the rendering will take, not the quality or A/V sync. I suspect you aren't using enough bitrate. Or maybe you have interlacing issues.

thanks jagabo, gunslinger....
as I am relatively new to the audio visual world I dont quite know what you mean by interlacing issues, but will try and find info on this site... hopefully.
I guess im not the most techy guy out there either...
When I go to render the film a box appears which contains options for "Format" the option selected is "Video for Windows (*.avi)"
also the "Description" is "audio: 44,100hz, 16 Bit, Stereo" and "video: 25.000 fps, 1440 x 1080 x32"
"56k"
Is this any of the info you were after gunslinger?? sorry if it is not.... im still learning all jargon etc....
many thanks in advance.... -
AVI is a container. How the video is compressed when stored in that container is down to the codec, My guess is that you are rendering as uncompressed, and your system isn't able to keep up with HD, uncompressed, for playback.
In Vegas, after selecting a "Type", you then have to select a template, which will include the video and audio codecs for your new file. The default template for AVI is Uncompressed.
I would suggest that for HD resolution you look at either Mainconcept AVC.AAC, or perhaps MPEG-2. You will also most likely have to get you hands dirty by clicking the Custom button and changing bitrates etc to get the best quality.Read my blog here.

Also keep in mind that the 1440x1080 frame has a 16:9 display aspect ratio even though the relative frame dimensions are a 12:9 ratio. You will either have to set the aspect ratio flags in the codec or resize to a 16:9 frame size.
