Hey I am trying to convert files from a JVC Everio HDD GZ-MC 200 to imovie/quicktime (I at least want to be able to watch it on the computer).
First I copied the JVC .mod files to an external drive and then manually changed the extensions to .mpg.
Second I dropped the .mpg files in to ffmpegx and chose to convert to .dv (as this was suggested to be of best quality by someone in one of these forums).
I did all files and I can import/retrieve using imovie, quicktime or just clicking the file and it will play etc however, after about 5/10/15 seconds of 'ok' video and audio play it freezes the video play, chops, stops and starts but then with no audio etc but still shows the time ticking along... So I have cut and paste the error message below...
Oh I also tried the bug troubleshooter of "inverting mapping" because I saw it somewhere and this also caused the same error message.
The other suggestion was to increase the video bitrate but I have no idea how to work out what to increase to in order to enable successful video and audio play.

CAN ANYONE HELP OR SUGGEST A FIX? I'm very new at all of this so "dumb and dumber" instructions required. Ha Ha
Thanks, Ange

You mentioned that there is a playback problem after you dropped the converted clip into iMovie, but did you try playing the dv file before then? This will help identify where the problem lies.
