  1. Ok, so I was on my Nintendo forum reading through posts, and all of a sudden, my computer restarted itself out of no where. Then when I logged back into Windows, I got this:

    Can someone tell me what happened?

    umm... windows had a serious error?

    Sorry for the smart ass remark. Couldn't help myself.

    Did you try clicking on the link where it said click here to get the exact error code? You could then just google that error code.

    You can always see the most recent windows errors by viewing the event logs

    you can open the event viewer by doing the following:

    Start -> Run -> type:
    Code:
    eventvwr.msc /s
    [press Enter]

    you can check the MS kb freebird linked for details on the event viewer logs.

    If the event viewer fails to start or you can not view the logs, that means you do not have the necessary services running. See http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm for details on WinXP SP3 Services.

    You could also search your installation drive for *.log files. Windows may have dumped a crash report. It may be difficult to find anything useful in the log without help from someone experienced in dealing with them.

    This could also be from having certain services disabled. If you or a system administrator did not disable them, then it might be caused by a virus.

    As good practice, even if your antivirus/antispy-malware tools don't pick up anything, it is no guarantee your are completely free. Try some online scanners as well.
