I want to convert a VHS NTSC marriage tape (only 42 min) to (S)VCD...
I will capture with VirtualDub and DivX codec... then will convert it to MPEG 1/2 using TMPGEnc 2.5.1.
The 1º question is: what is real VHS standard? 352x240, 320x240, 320x480 or 352x480?
2º question: Should I use Interlace Option in VirtualDub or not?
3º question: If the VHS is 320(352)x480 format, Is there a way that I can convert it to SVCD (480x480) in TMPGEnc to fit the 42 min in one CD? I heard SVCD can hold only 35 min/CD...
Thanks,

VHS video tape is about 352x480 (NTSC).
Capture both fields for making a VCD is better than just capture one field. It increases the vertical resolution quite a bit. So, capture at 352x480 interlaced.
If you want to make a SVCD, simple capture at 480x480 interlaced. If you can't capture at 480, then use 352, 640, or 704x480 interlaced. The SVCD encoder will resize the frames to 480x480 pixels.
It's no problem getting 42 minutes on a 80 min CD-R. Use a SVCD calculator to find the bit rate needed.
