  1. I have an AVI file with 5.1 DTS Audio - is there a program that can convert the audio?

for e.g. like Popcorn MKV Audio Converter does it to 10Gb MKV's in about 30mins

    thanks

EDIT: ive tried AVIDEMUX as i thought that may work but upon opening the AVI file it says NO AUDIO DECODER FOUND FOR THIS FILE - SAVING VIDEO+AUDIO WILL RESULT IN BAD AVI

  2. use gspot and mediainfo to see what codec the audio uses. sounds like avidemux thinks you don't have the proper codec.

You might try eac3to, but I don't know if it can accept AVI input. You may have to demux the audio and then convert that. Various tools like BeSweet or eac3to should be able to convert your DTS audio to AC3.

yes but gspot will tell you if your computer has a codec to allow conversion. and "avi" is meaningless, it the name of a container, not a video type. it could be rgb, DVavi, divx, or any of a hundred others.
