I just spent the last 2 hours installing all the necessarily applications to get ffmpegx to convert a RMVB file to an AVI file, just so that I can burn it on a DVD to watch.

Please please please tell me what I'm doing wrong. It's driving me insane!

RealMedia is always trouble to convert from. Avoid it whenever possible.

That being said, did you install the corresponding (Intel or PPC) Reallib for ffmpegX? The wrong version of reallib might lead to 'Bus errors'.

When converting from .rmvb, rename the suffix to .rm ; the software handles the source file differently (better) then.
