Goal: Save edited video w/ Movie Maker correctly. Then code it in a website.

Video: originated from a digital camera. I used Movie Maker to edit. I only split or deleted small parts where I wiped my nose/picked it (allergy season), only added a title panel and credit panel. It should be a simple video clip. I am about to save the 10min video to the computer. Is that the best place to then place in a website?

Save video: Best quality or compress? Save with what ending .avi or others? I think it was already saved using .MSWMM
Does the file name ending of my video need to change? That was when I imported the video from the camera. I didn't know what I was doing. The saving part I am not sure of.

My goal is to save video correctly and then display the clip on my website. I want a quality video without slowing down the without slowing down the website. I had a little practice posting the many video media players like QuickTime... I have some practice adding only pre-made or given video clips to a website. I don't want to make a big mess of it all. There are no permission issues with my video. I gave credit to the book's author. Also It's me on the video.

Thanks for helping a beginner ~Ginny

.mswmm would be a project file the editor makes so you don't lose your project and settings. Every editor makes it's own project filetypes (what you called "endings").

Your free editor makes or saves the actual video as .wmv (a highly compressed format with OK quality for easy internet transfer) and DV-.AVI (a lightly compressed format with good quality used for easy editing).

With your editor, I'd save one .wmv and one dv-avi and of course the project file. What website are you uploading to? If youtube (or the like), I'd upload the DV-AVI (big) one and let them re-encode it and display it for you. If you're uploading to your own site, I'd upload the smaller .wmv

This will get your feet wet. It's probably best to read the glossary on the left menu for a few hours if you wish to understand more.

    Thanks Zoobie,

I often don't have the correct terminology. Thanks for clearing that up.

The video clip is not for the YouTube. My video will be for a website that I started with HTML coding and then used Dreamweaver. That Dreamweaver project is finished with the www.Valiadator's approval. I hope I can place video in website as the next to last step. I still have a little content to add to it. I did observe a Movie Maker presenter. He was good at explaining.

Yes I do want Easy. Hey I need to finish up a different website project now. I have to Valiadate it now.
Can I continue the video conversation with you when I am ready?
    Thanks again

Ginny - I am overloaded with things I must finish.

Ok I have the video saved. Then I tried to paste and copy to SecureFX from a 8gig thumb drive.

I think the job was not done. It said file size 19761672 ???

What should I look at and change? I am planing to deleat the portion of the clip off SecureFX?

Only 27% progress when it stoped.

    Bytes transferred 18.97MB
    Size of File 69.75 MB
I am thinking TOO big. So an .AVI is best with some conpressing of the file? I can edit a photo size but now I think I am in too deep with the home made video on a website. :S

    Thank you
    Ginny
