Good morning to everyone,

Let me explain my situation and get your thoughts & feedback. I'm a middle school computer technology teacher. In addition to my teaching role I'm also the advisor for our weekly student TV program. Last year was our fist year running this program with a VERY LOW BUDGET (all out my pocket...*ouch*). I'm looking for a software program that allows us to basically create a playlist of our video clips (intros, bumpers, and segment clips etc.), and play them when needed.

Here is our current setup.

We currently have an Edirol V-4 video mixer (4 inputs - 2 outputs).
Inputs 1-3 are our studio cameras.
Input 4 is the output from our computer (XP-Sp3, P4 3GHz Hyper-thread, 1GB RAM, 512MB Vid card).

Audio - (4) 4-handheld wireless microphone decks (total 16 mics) running balanced into a Behringer XENYX 1202FX soundboard.

We run a line from the output of the video mixer and a line from the output of the soundboard into our school's TV system. Seems very "jury-rigged" - but it works given our budget.

On our computer we are currently using Adobe Visual Communicator 3 (http://www.adobe.com/products/visualcommunicator/) as our "video playlist" program. It works well for the most part. But there are times when it behaves like an Adobe product... Basically with VC3 we are able to drop our video clips on to the timeline - and then run the timeline to broadcast the clips when needed. It took a little creativity to create a flowing "script" of our show (segment intros starting when needed). The drawback to VC3 is that it is very hard to update our show timeline if we have unexpected or last minute content coming in.

In any case - are there any other video "playlist" type programs that are out there that might work in a case like this? We are not streaming video into the computer (mostly because it would probably explode if we did). I know some people might suggest eliminating the video mixer and going all computer based - but call me old school... I'm more comfortable with the mixer mixing, and the computer being responsible for only video clips & segments.

I've looked at quite a few programs this morning including Wirecast, which had potential except I couldn't get output on a secondary display. If you have any suggestions I would look forward to hearing them!

If you need any additional clarification please post and I'll answer what I can.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Rich
