Ok, so I bought a new camcorder...a JVC HD Everio GZ-HD300. So far I really like the camera and the image quality it takes...BUT this is my first delve into HD, etc. This camera saves the video out as an .mts file, which I have never worked with! Normally I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Adobe After Effects CS4 to edit my videos.
I guess my question is, how do I properly convert an .mts file to be able to do the rest of my editing to that file within After Effects or Premiere Pro without degrading the quality too much? So far my few tests it is like I lose tons of quality!
HELP!
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Seems like you did zero research on this cam before purchsase despite your investment in the Adobe suite.

Seems Adobe has never heard of this camcorder. So now you need to convert the output to something Adobe will accept.
You must become a format geek which gets in the way of creativity IMO.

Have a look at Avid DNxHD as a free, visually lossless, intermediate format or shell out for NeoScene.

It is MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 but not to AVCHD spec so you will need to talk to Adobe, AVID or JVC support.
Expect consumer JVC support to ask Adobe Premiere Pro?
(BTW their native 1280x720p pro cams are excellent but different support).Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
