    I notice there is a great difference in encoding features between TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress VS TMPGEnc Authoring Works v.4.0.4.24, in the DVD creation.
    TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress : gives me a .mpg file as DVD format, instead of the VOB files [ Video_Ts and Audio_TS], BUT encoded and compressed well to fit into a 4.7 gig DVD { I have 3 seprate Files}

    TMPGEnc Authoring Works v.4.0.4.24, : Seems to take up more space, even with the Fist file Added, But it gives a DVD format of VOB Files as the Output [ Video TS & Audio Ts]

    Why the difference?- It seems like if I have to fit 3 separate videos, onto a DVD Sl- 5, I have to encode it using Xpress and then transfer it to TDA for the authoring, in order to fit everything onto a DVD after the Menu addition....Why can't I use TDA, to do the whole JOB?..........Confuse?

    Yes, you're confused.

    TMPG Express is an encoder.
    TMPG Auth Works is an authorware that can also encode. (But honestly, you probably should not, for best quality.)

    I fail to understand the desire for one program to do everything for you. Use the right program for the right task. Why leave two good programs for one inferior one? I can imagine a person telling his wife, "gee honey, you're a great lover and mother, but you're not very good with overhauling transmissions or doing taxes, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave you for that hooker down the street, because she does all of those things" (even if she is terrible at all of them).
