I am trying to load a music file onto my ipod that my friend sent me, and unfortunately he sent it in a m3u file (MP3 Audio PlayList) from his radio show or web site. ipod's do not support that kind of file. There are 50,000 programs if you pay for, offer to do this with ease. I am looking for one to do the trick that is free of charge. Spent hours googling last night only to find free applications that claimed to do the trick and could not, can someone help??

So your friend sent you only the m3u file? No tracks?...Don't think you can do anything w/o the tracks, since the m3u file does not contain the music files...

No...the tracks are there, it plays perfectly in Real player havent tried Windows Media player. I saved it to my hard disk, but the ipod does not support this file. I really don't want to pay $30.00 to convert one music file.

It probably contains pointers to the tracks online, and the players will download and play the files. But generally, playlist files like .m3u don't contain the actual audio tracks.

I wonder how these sites like avs4you.com claim to be able to convert m3u to mp3 with ease?

Convert to what AAC?..Import the m3u file in foobar2k or even Itunes and convert to aac/m3a..Both are free alternatives..If you still can't import the m3u then import all the tracks and convert them...
If already Mp3 tracks there's nothing to convert..

ACC would be fine, or mp3,m4a, m4b, m4p, anything, i imported to itunes, but to transfer, or in apple jargon "sync" you cannot because ipods and iphones don't support mcu!
