    I had it a while back but the name completely escapes me.

    Just a simple program that I open let's say a WMV with and it says the resolution, audio track, and so on.

    MediaInfo? GSpot might also work, but its support for containers other than AVI and MPEG isn't necessarily complete. For WMV/WMA, it'll often show 'Codec Status Undetermined' for whether or not the codecs are installed.
